                I volunteered as a tutor for primary students at St. Michael’s Primary in Belfast, Northern Ireland. I completed the training program for the Better Reader Partnership, a companion to the Reading Recovery program.

 Aug. ’97 – Dec. ‘97

                As a teaching assistant at Eastern Kentucky University I was responsible for developing my own lesson plans and deciding on how best to ensure my students achieved departmental goals.  I was also a tutor in the writing center and computer lab.

 Aug. '92 - May '94

Tutor, Somerset Community College/ Laurel County Center

                As the first tutor hired at the Laurel County Center, I was influential in planning the layout of the learning center, as well as determining what the focus and goals of the center should be.  I was responsible for designing and implementing workshops, consulting with instructors to evaluate the specific needs of students, and providing training for new tutors.

 

OTHER EXPERIENCE and ACTIVITIES

 

Currently I am a Team Manager and Fundraiser for our local Rush select soccer club.

I own and manage an online used bookstore.

I volunteer for Christian Appalachian Project.

I have been vice-president of the North Laurel High School Lady Soccer Boosters.  I helped to organize and coach an indoor soccer team consisting of several of the NLHS players.
