This is the page where I'll describe myself in more detail.

My name is Lisa Donnelly.
I'm a wife, a mom, an author, a resident advocate for a domestic violence shelter, a MSc student in Juvenile Justice and Corrections, a sister, a grandaughter, a niece, and a friend.

In the not-so-distant past I have been a student at Queen's University, Belfast, Northern Ireland, working towards my MSc (Education) Computer Based Learning degree.  (To find out more about the degree, go to the Institute of Computer Based Learning.)

I am a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, BA in English.  I also did some work towards my Master's in English there, as well as happily performing duties as a Teaching Assistant for one semester.  Go Colonels!

In the past I've been an Emergecy Medical Technician, a Sunday school teacher, a coach, a Lab Tech, a waitress, a theatre employee (did a bit of everything there), a sales person, a writing lab tutor, and a teacher.

That's me.

You may read my resume (or 'curriculum vitae,' if you prefer) here.

Is it true that Stonehenge was actually a sheep pen for an ancient race of giants?

Free time?  What free time?

In my free time I enjoy hiking, camping, and writing.  A few years ago we enjoyed a week of camping in Ireland, Wales, and southern England.  That is one trip I would love to go on again.

An example of some of my non-fiction work is a biography of the actor Sam Neill.

As for dislikes, there really aren't many.  I like a diversity of music, film, literature.  I suppose my only real dislikes are narrow-mindedness and bigotry. Oh, and cricket---I just don't understand that game.

Favorites

Here's a list of some of my favorite movies:
The Truman Show is one of my favourite films, as are Witness, Lord of the Rings, Philadelphia, Punisher, Shakespeare in Love, Plunkett and Macleane, and The Full Monty , Phantom of the Opera, Dear Frankie, Pirates of the Carribean. I really liked The Birdcage with Robin Williams and Nathan Lane. Priscilla, Queen of the Desert. The Harry Potter films.  All the Mad Max films, the Batman ones with Michael Keaton, and also Raiders of the Lost Ark. Heck, anything by Stephen Spielberg.  Johnny Depp made a fantastic Wonka -- I don't know what I was worried about.

Here's a list of some of my favorite music:

U2, Crowded House, Neil and Tim Finn, The Calling, Creed, Garth Brooks, Queen, Staind, Wolftones, Tom Jones, Blink-182, Madonna, Manic Street Preachers, Travis, Nickelback. And the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack is good, too.

My favourite authors of fiction are:
William Faulkner, Nathaniel Hawthorne, and ... well, John Grisham; Sherrilyn Kenyon, Laurell K. Hamilton, Christine Feehan, Katie Macalister, Lynsay Sands, Charlaine Harris, and Maryjanice Davidson; my favourite poets are  Walt Whitman and Samuel Taylor Coleridge; my favourite playwrights are Tennessee Williams and Oscar Wilde.

My favourite TV shows at the minute are Lost and Psych.  I also like / have liked CSI, Mythbusters, Queer Eye, Stargate SGI, and Gilmore Girls.

There's not nearly enough soccer or hockey on tv.  However, I made up for it by spending a good portion of my life watching my daughter play for NLHS Lady Jags, Northern Lady Eagles, and EKU.

And if I'm being a couch potato, and there's "nothing" on, I gravitate towards The History Channel, The Learning Channel, Discovery, BBC America, Chiller, or TruTV.
